Last Saturday I hat an unexpected experience...
I was flying my new wing and after 45 minutes flying in good leethermals I took a hard thermal in a leeside of somerocks..... after some turns my glider collapsed gomplete ( frontstall) and immediatedly crawated, I could do nothing beeing ca 100 meters above cliffs.... the glider got in such a deep spiral that it was nearly impossible for me to get out my rescue.....
finally i got it out and after 10 seconds I was going against he rocks( luckily with my legs) and slipping down the steep wall until my glider caught some rocks to hanfg on... I was ca 10 meters above a small snowcovered bench hanging there....
The first helicopter came, saw me and went away, as he could not save me.... too much leewind and too dangerous to get me with my glider....
so i decided to escape from my harness - carefully not to brake the lines i was hanging in and climed down to the bench.... after an hour the nex helicopter came and took me.... because I was enough far away from my glider....
then they tried to get my glider but this way they broke and damaged 14 cells and threw it into a snowfield.......
the next I walked three hours up to take my glider....
I am alive and did not have even a single scratch, but it was very close to a final end.....
Actually I am inbetween to decide wheter I stop flying generally or take the lesson to fly more regular and consequent to judge the situations better.....
I don´t know yet....

Jo, Jo
such a story! You must feel alive!
> Actually I am inbetween to decide wheter I stop flying generally or take the lesson to fly more regular and consequent to judge the situations better.....
> I don´t know yet....
You have two choices - to stop or continue flying:
- If you quite you must find strong substitute to flying and be prepared not to sorry when you see flyers and not to look at the sky and mountains with these flying eyes you have now. Of course fear, kids, etc are good excuse not to fly but they cannot suppress the pitty and sorry that you don't fly. Are you strong enough for this?
- If you continue flying you'll have to become even stronger because the next time something like this happens you must be ready to die with a smile doing something you love to do - flying! Some say that Petko died with a smile. When I saw him his face was calm and relaxed. There was no pain.
Of course the whole situation is like a red light for you. It means change! When I had uncontrollable situation with an old competition glider I also got frightened. Then I quit flying competition gliders because I want my air time not for engaging control but for enjoying the views and making photos. Of course with such decision I'll never win a competition but I'm discovering other joys in flying.
You still can keep flying competition gliders but can you afford the time they require?
I'll respect whatever you choose and it won't change our friendship!
Be happy that you're alive!
Niki
Вчера Йоханес летя отново. Само, че с по-спокойно крило
