Hallo Daniel,
thanks for your interest on this very important topic. Since this part of the connection is not a "real" part of the rescue or the harness standards, it was a gray zone for a long time.

I would not advise a standard uncovered Dyneema soft-link for connecting the reserve with the harness, since in this case we have an uncovered Dyneema on one connection side.
I would allways avoid this case!
I you would use a covered soft-link , I is the same as using Dyeema on Dyneema connection. So in this case it is partially covered with the knot-knot configuration.
If you use a soft link, it is also advised to strictly limit any movement of the connection.
We only tested Materials used by Advance/Companion. Soft-links with acceptable breaking strengths for attaching reserves are not used by us.

We made also real word parachute drop tests for some configurations, and a higher number of laboratory test.
We also measured the real forces on a drop test, but getting the peaks is very difficult.
> If the conclusion of the experiment is "There is no weakening of the connection if Lark's knot is used compared to Maillon Rapide." - why in all your user manuals you still recommend Maillon to be used?
>
I would only advise to use a knot connection between reserve and harness, if the personal is trained how to do that (making, tightening and securing the knot).
For a normal pilot, without deeper knowledge in this area, a Maillon is still the favored connection method.
A knot is allays weaker than the right Maillon, but still has sufficient strength to connect the reserve safely.
A Maillon can also be opened, in case of a recovery/rescue operation from a tree.
In the new users manuals, we state that both connection versions are sufficient from the point of strength.
